Apple M1 | Review
Announced in November of 2020, Apple M1 (8 core) is an 8 core is Soc (System on a Chip) divided into four performance cores and four power-efficiency cores. The performance cores here have 192 KB instruction cache, 128 KB data cache, and 12 MB shared Level 2 cache and a maximum clock speed of up to 3204 MHz. The efficiency cores on the other hand can have a clock speed of up to 2064 MHz with 128 KB instruction cache, 64 KB data cache, and 4 MB shared cache. Apple M1 has 2 different variants of Integrated graphics for the entry-level MacBook Air that comes with Apple M1 7-Core GPU and MacBook Pro 13, Mac Mini, and iMac 24 comes with M1 8-Core GPU.
The Apple M1 TDP can vary from the passive cooled 10 Watt variant for the MacBook Air all the to mac mini with a max TDP of 39 Watts. Therefore the performance of the chip therefore greatly depends on the thermal performance of the system. The chip also features a fast integrated neural engine with 16 cores, a secure enclave for encryption, unified memory architecture, Thunderbolt / USB 4 controller, an ISP, and media de- and encoders.
Performance
In terms of performance, it goes toe to toe with the likes of i7 11800H and AMD Ryzen 5980Hs in cinebench r23 even though both of these processors have a TDP of 45 watts and 35 Watts respectively. So this goes without saying it can easily handle your day-to-day tasks such as Browsing, Streaming, and using office productivity software. If your day-to-day workflow involves using video editing, photo editing, and CAD applications, Apple M1 should have no problem handling such workloads.
Cinebench R23 | Benchmarks
Cinebench R23 benchmark is the updated version of Cinebench R20 now with AVX instruction set support based on Cinema 4D. Cinebench R23 Single-core benchmark measures the responsiveness of the software under the active workload. The multi-core benchmark on the other hand measures the CPU’s ability to handle tasks such as rendering, encoding, and other workloads that benefit from better multi-threaded performance.

How is Apple M1 for Gaming
Apple M1 has two GPU variants an 8 core variant and a 7 core variant (for the entry level MacBook Air). With the 8 core variant being up to 50-70 percent faster than Intel’s Iris Xe Graphics G7 with 96 EU’s and up to 10-20 percent faster than Nvidia’s Mx450 Graphics 2GB Graphics.
