AMD Ryzen 7 5700U | Review
Launched in January of 2021 AMD Ryzen 7 5700U is an eight-core processor that comes with 16 Threads and is based on the Zen 2 Lucienne U architecture. The 5700U has a base clock of 1.8 GHz and the clock speed can be turbo boosted to up to 4.3 GHz. When compared to its previous generation the 5700U is slightly more powerful than the 4800U in terms of performance. The TDP of this Chip is specified by intel to be at 15 Watts but can vary anywhere from 10 to 25 watts. The 8-core APU of the 5700U comes with an integrated AMD Radeon RX Vega 8 (Ryzen 4000) and supports DDR4-3200 and Low power LPDDR4-4266 RAM.
AMD Radeon RX Vega 8 Graphics
AMD Ryzen 7 5700U comes integrated with Radeon RX Vega 8 graphics powered by 8 CUs (compute units)/512 shaders operating at a clock speed of 1,900 MHz and supports 4k UHD at 60Hz. Based on AMD’s 5th generation GCN Vega architecture sees a massive improvement in its performance thanks to the massive improvements in clock speed.
How is the AMD Ryzen 7 5700U (Good or Bad)
For your day-to-day tasks such as Browsing, Streaming, and office productivity software the eight-core 5700U is more than enough. Now if you are looking for a thin and light laptop for video/photo editing or even animation the 5700U is a great option as it goes toe to with intel’s 10th i7 10875H and i9-10885H in both single and multi-threaded performance. Both of these chips have a TDP of 45 watts while 5700U is only a 15-watt chip.
How is AMD Ryzen 7 5700U for Gaming
AMD Ryzen 7 5700U with its Vega 8 Graphics can play modern AAA titles such as GTA 5 at 60 FPS at 1080p at the lowest setting settings. In terms of performance, the vega 8 graphics on the 5700U performs slightly worse than Intels Iris Xe Graphics G7 96EU.

How is AMD Ryzen 7 5700U for 3D Animation and Rendering
Blender
Blender is an open-source digital content creation software for 3D-Modeling, Animation, Rendering, Video Editing & Compositing Solutions on the market. Blender has its own benchmarks and is used to measure the rendering capabilities of a CPU or GPU. The following bars indicate the time is taken to render a scene ( Less is better)
Cinebench (Single-Core)
Based on cinema 4d the Cinebench measures CPU performance in animation, 3d-modeling, simulation, and rendering. Single-core performance measures the responsiveness of the software under active workloads. Here we can see that Ryzen 7 5700U is loose to its 11th Gen intel counterparts in single-core performance with a decent margin. Though the performance here is not bad it’s fairly decent and your overall experience will be smooth.
Cinebench (Multi-Core)
Based on cinema 4d the Cinebench measures CPU performance in animation, 3d-modeling, simulation, and rendering. Multi-core score measures the CPU’s ability to handle tasks such as rendering, encoding, and other workloads that benefit from better multi-threaded performance. When it comes to multi-core performance the 5700U dominates its competition beating out the likes of the i7 1165G7 by almost 70 percent in Cinebench R23.
How is AMD Ryzen 7 5700U for Web Browsing
Geekbench
The GeekBench Single-core score can be used to estimate the real-world performance of day-to-day applications such as Ms word, Google Chrome, and several games. The GeekBench Multi-core score can be used to estimate the real-world performance of a CPU under professional workloads such as data compression, 2d/3d rendering, machine learning, and physics simulation(CAD applications).- Geekbench 5 (Single-Core)
- Geekbench 5 (Multi-Core)
- Geekbench 5.3 (Single-Core)
