Laptop Review: Asus ROG Strix G15 G512LI-HN145T

The Asus ROG Strix G15 G512LI-HN145T is powered by the 10th Gen intel core i7 10750H and Nvidia GTX 1650Ti paired with 16GB of dual-channel 3200 MHz and 1 TB of SSD. The Display here is fast 144Hz but has poor color reproduction features. You will be paying a premium for the design so the price to performance ratio here isn’t that great here. Strix G15 G512LI-HN145T does have great options for upgradability for both storage and RAM with 3x M.2 2280 Slots and 2x DO-DIMM slots for RAM. The LED Gamer aesthetics are not tacky and manages to add beauty to the laptop. However, if you are planning to buy this laptop for professional use you may also need to buy a webcam.

Design

The Asus ROG Strix G15 G512LI-HN145T has a plastic chassis and looks quite premium however when compared to its metallic counterparts there is a visible difference in finish and feel of the material. The chassis however is quite solid through the lid gives a little flex. Bezels here are really thin giving it a really modern look.  The weight of the device is only 2.3 Kg which is fairly avg for a gaming device. The logo and RGB strip add to the aesthetics of this device quite nicely. The dimensions here are 360(W) x 275(D) x 21~25.8(H) mm.

Ports

The port selection on Asus ROG Strix G15 G512LI-HN145T is average but the 3 USB type A here is a great addition for gamers but for it does not have anything special going on here. The lack of Thunderbolt 3 is disappointing.

Keyboard and Trackpad

The Keys on the Asus ROG Strix G15 G512LI-HN145T are of chiclet-style with a single zone of RGB. The key have a nice grip, and this will really enhance your gaming experience and the typing experience itself is great with the keys having a very clear actuation point. The trackpad, on the other hand, is a bit smaller (10.9 x 6cm). But using the trackpad for your day-to-day activities you will have a smooth experience. On the bottom of the trackpad, you will find two dedicated mouse buttons that manage to stay very quiet.

Sound

The speakers here are two 1.5 watt speakers with Smart AMP tech and Intel Comet Lake PCH-H – cAVS as the soundcard. The sound quality is above average.

Performance

Asus ROG Strix G15 G512LI-HN145T is powered by the 6 Core 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10750H is a very capable CPU however when compared with its predecessor it only sees slight gains in performance and loses to its AMD counterpart. However, it is still a very powerful CPU. The RAM here is 16GB of memory running in dual channel. This combination in terms of performance is more than enough for your day to workloads. For creative professionals, this is can be considered a powerful laptop however the display here is not great for that.

Gaming performance:

The Asus ROG Strix G15 G512LI-HN145T has a decent gaming performance and you should be able to play most AAA at 60+ FPS at Ultra settings. Though the display here is 144Hz with GTX 1650Ti there are very few games that you can play at 144 FPS. You can expect to get up to 60+ FPS on ultra setting in fortnite and 90+ FPS in GTA 5 at high settings.
