ASUS ZenBook 14 OLED UM3402YA-DS71 Review

Asus Zenbook 14 is super light and thin and comes with an amazing display which makes it a premium choice for students and those looking for a laptop for the office. It features a state-of-the-art display, keyboard and trackpad, sufficient ports, and a solid aluminum body.This particular SKU is powered by the 8 Core/ 16 Thread processor the AMD Ryzen 7 5825U and Integrated. Other key specs include 8GB of RAM, 512GB SSD and a 14 Inch (2880x1800) 2.8K 90Hz display.

DESIGN AND BUILD QUALITY

Asus Zenbook 14 (UM3402) is made of aluminum which means it is really thin and light, weighing around 1.39kg. The laptop has a pretty solid and rigid body with fairly acceptable flexes. Note that the laptop meets MIL-STD-810H standards for durability. The hinge is smooth, one can open the lid with one hand and it opens up to almost 180 degrees. It has an Ergolift design, so the backside of the lid lifts the base of the laptop, tilting the keyboard in your direction which makes typing comfortable. The bezels are surprisingly thin even the bottom one, and you get a webcam on the top bezel.

Keyboard and Trackpad

The Asus Zenbook has state of an art backlit keyboard with a decent key travel time and clicky feedback. The touchpad is also very smooth and responds well to the high refresh rate display. There is no separate num pad on the keyboard but the touchpad also functions as a num pad and you can activate it by holding the top right side button on the touchpad.

Ports

The laptop has sufficient ports for connectivity and also comes with an SD card reader. On the left, you find a USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen 2) port, while on the right side you get two USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen 2), HDMI 2.1b connectors, and an audio jack.

Upgradability

When it comes to RAM, the Asus Zenbook 14 comes with two slots for LPDDR4x RAM. However, the laptop comes with RAM that is already soldered to the motherboard, so you only have one empty slot for upgrading your RAM. When it comes to storage, the laptop has M.2 PCIe x4 slot for Gen 3 drives.

Display

Asus Zenbook 14 (UM3402) comes with a 14-inch 2880×1800 OLED panel which has a refresh rate of 90 Hz, and 100% sRGB coverage. The display has a pixel density of 243 PPI and a brightness of 420 nits. Overall, It has a great display with vivid and accurate colors and is great for video and photo editing
