AMD Ryzen 9 4900H | Review

The AMD Ryzen 9 4900H is a mobile CPU for Gaming laptops based on Renoir architecture. The 4900H has 8 cores and 16 threads with a base clock of 3.3 GHz and which can be boosted to up to 4.4 GHz. The chip is based on the Zen 2 microarchitecture is manufactured on a 7 nm process by TSMC. Thanks to this new manufacturing process AMD boasts a 2x improvement in performance per watt when compared to its previous generation. The TDP of this Chip is specified by intel to be at 45 Watts but can vary anywhere from 35 to 54 watts and supports DDR4-3200 and Low power LPDDR4-4266 RAM.

Performance

When compared to its previous generation, the AMD Ryzen 9 4900H sees almost 2x improvement in performance per watt as stated before. It can easily handle your day-to-day tasks such as Browsing, Streaming, and using office productivity software. Now, if your day-to-day workflow involves using video editing, photo editing, and CAD applications the 4900H is an absolute powerhouse and beats the i9 10980HK.

IGPU: AMD Radeon RX Vega 8 (Ryzen 4000/5000)

The AMD Radeon RX Vega 8 (Ryzen 4000/5000) based on AMD’s 5th generation GCN Vega architecture sees a massive improvement in its performance thanks to the massive improvements in clock speed. This means better gaming performance and you can play modern AAA titles such as GTA 5 at 60 FPS at 1080p at the lowest setting settings. However, it won’t matter as the 4900H will come paired with dedicated graphics.
