HP Envy x360 15M-EE0013DX Review

HP Envy x360 15M-EE0013DX is powered by the 6-core AMD Ryzen 5 4500U and Vega 6 graphics. The RAM here is configured with a Dual channel 8GB DDR4 memory running at 3200 MHz and the storage here is a 256GB m.2 SSD. Overall when comes to performance with its AMD ryzen 5 4500U is a mid-range processor with high-end performance making it a great laptop for creative professionals and students.  Now pairing this configuration with a solid chassis and a decent touchscreen makes it a really great mid-range laptop.

Design and Ports

HP Envy x360 15M-EE0013DX has a beautiful black chassis with a matte finish. The hinge is quite stiff and allows for a smooth transition between different modes. Once you the back panel you will find an m.2 SSD, 2x SO-DIMM Slots, and integrated battery.

Keyboard and Trackpad

The keyboard on the HP Envy x360 15M-EE0013DX  has a chicklet-style keyboard with a smooth finish on the keys and 2 stages of backlight making it a comfortable laptop to use in the dark. The typing experience itself is alright as the keys have a clear actuation point however the keys are a little small. The trackpad has a decent size of  11.5 x 7.3 cm with a smooth matte finish. The trackpad has smooth gesture control and allows the pointer to slide smoothly.

Display

The FHD panel on the HP Envy x360 15M-EE0013DX has a 60Hz Refresh rate and doesn’t suffer from any noticeable issues such as backlight bleeding and PWM flickering. The display here has below-average color coverage and brightness levels making it not suitable for outdoor use.

According to HP, the Envy x360 15M-EE0013DX should achieve about 11.5 hours under mixed usage, and according to NBC WiFi Websurfing Battery Test 1.3 which is a synthetic benchmark for opening websites via a script the battery should last around 9 hours and 24 Mins. The power adapter here has a power supply of 65 watts and while under maximum load the Envy x360 15M-EE0013DX consumes about 48 watts of power and will charge even under maximum load. Besides this, the type-c port can also be used for charging the laptop.

Performance

The HP Envy x360 15M-EE0013DX 2in1 is powered by the 6-core ryzen 5 4500U which is slightly more powerful than the 10th gen i7 1065G7. The 4500U should be able to handle most of your active workloads of Photo and Video editing or any other CPU-intensive task without a problem. The AMD Radeon RX Vega 6 (Ryzen 4000 series) graphics are almost 20 percent faster than the last-gen Vega 8 (2000/3000 series). When compared to its Nvidia counterparts the Vega 6 scales above the Mx230 and comes close to the Mx150 and Mx330 in terms of performance. The RAM is configured with 8GB dual-channel DDR4 memory running at 3200 Mhz speed ordered onto the motherboard. The storage on the other hand is an m.2 NVMwe SSD configured at 256GB. This combination gives high speed, which you can also upgrade, and the dual-channel memory compliments the vega 6 graphics quite nicely.
