Laptop Review: HP Envy x360 2-in-1 15-ds1063cl

HP Envy x360 2-in-1 15-ds1063cl is powered by the 6 core AMD Ryzen 5 4500U and Vega 6 graphics. The RAM here is configured with a Dual channel 8GB DDR4 memory running at 3200 MHz and the storage here is a 512GB m.2 SSD. Overall when comes to performance with its AMD ryzen 5 4500U is a mid-range processor with high-end performance making it a great laptop for creative professionals and students.  Now pairing this configuration with a solid chassis and a decent touchscreen making it a really great mid-range laptop.

Design and Ports

HP Envy x360 2-in-1 15-ds1063cl has a beautiful black chassis with a matte finish. The hinge is quite stiff and allows for a smooth transition between different modes. Once you the back panel you will find an m.2 SSD, 2x SO-DIMM Slots, and integrated battery.

Keyboard and Trackpad

The keyboard on the HP Envy x360 2-in-1 15-ds1063cl  has a chicklet style keyboard with a smooth finish on the keys and 2 stages of backlight making it a comfortable laptop to use in the dark. The typing experience itself is alright as the keys have a clear actuation point however the keys are a little small.

The trackpad has a decent size of  11.5 x 7.3 cm with a smooth matte finish. The trackpad has smooth gesture control and allows the pointer to slide smoothly.

RAM and Storage

The RAM is configured with 8GB dual-channel DDR4 memory running at 3200 Mhz speed ordered on to the motherboard. The storage on the other hand is an m.2 NVMwe SSD configured at 256GB. This combination gives high speed which you can also upgrade upgrading and the dual-channel memory compliments the vega 6 graphics quite nicely.

According to HP, the HP Envy x360 2-in-1 15-ds1063cl should achieve about 12 hours under mixed usage.

Performance

The HP Envy x360 2in1 15-ds1063cl is powered by the 6 core ryzen 5 4500U which is slightly more powerful than the 10th gen i7 1065G7. The 4500U should be able to handle most of your active workloads of Photo and Video editing or any other CPU-intensive task without a problem.

Display: 15.6 Inch 60Hz FHD Touchscreen (AU Optronics B156HW02)

The FHD panel on the HP Envy x360 15-ds1063cl has a 60Hz Refresh rate and doesn’t suffer from and noticeable issues such as backlight bleeding and PWM flickering. The display here has below-average color coverage and brightness levels making it not suitable for outdoor use.
