9th Gen Intel i5 9300H | Review

The Intel Core i5-9300H is a Mid-Range processor for Gaming Laptops. The Quad-core processor comes with 8 Threads and is based on the Coffee Lake architecture. The 9300H has a base clock of 2.4 GHz and the clock speed can be turbo boosted to up to 4 GHz (four cores) or 4.1 GHz (one core). When compared to its previous generation, the Core i5-8300H, the 9300H sees a slight increment in its clock speed of about 100 MHz Intel has specified a TDP of 45 watts, therefore the i5 9300H is only suited for bulkier Gaming Laptops with good cooling solutions. The CPU can also be configured to 35 Watt using cTDP-down, resulting in reduced performance.

Performance

The Intel Core i5-9300H is comparable to the older Core i7-7920HQ and is roughly 15-20 percent faster than AMD Ryzen 5 3550H. Now when compared to the 6 core i7 9750H the 9300H offers similar single-core performance however when it comes to multi-threaded performance its i7 counterpart will perform roughly 50 percent better.
